NEUROMODULATORS

$10.50/unit

Wrinkles are caused by the loss of collagen and by muscles under the skin contracting, creating lines as the skin ages.  Neuromodulators limit movement of these muscles.

There are used in many areas, e.g.:

  • Glabella (aka "11's") lines

  • Forehead Wrinkles

  • Bunny Lines

  • Crow's Feet

  • Smoker's Lines

  • "Orange Peel" chin

  • "Lip flips", to create the appearance of fuller lips without the need for dermal fillers.

DERMAL FILLERS

$400 (half) to $595+

Dermal Filler treatments fill wrinkles, add volume and define facial contours, such as the jawline and cheekbones.

The deepening of facial lines and folds can be caused by a variety of factors, including overall volume loss - which can be restored.

These procedures usually take 30-60 minutes and show effects for 6-18 months, depending on the product used, area treated and your body's unique characteristics.

See FAQ below for more info!

CHIN SCULPTING

from $550 per treatment

Fat dissolving injections are used to help reduce the appearance of fullness associated with submental fat, aka "double-chin".

Synthetic versions of a natural acid called deoxycholic acid is delivered to areas of concern under the chin, which breaks down the wall of the fat cells and is absorbed and naturally dissolved into your body.

This treatment can be performed alone, or in conjunction with dermal fillers to provide both definition and fat reduction to the chin and jawline areas.

NEUROMODULATORS

Are neuromodulators safe?

Neuromodulators have been used in medicine for almost 30 years and have many different medical uses. There are thousands of published studies about neurotoxin products, making them one of the most widely researched medicines in the world.

Most patients would tell you "no" and report very little discomfort. It has been described as feeling like a mosquito bite or like squeezing a pimple.

Who should NOT receive neuromodulators?

Women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, women who are breastfeeding, people who are taking certain antibiotics, have neuromuscular disorders, individuals with medical conditions that lower the body's immune response, individuals undergoing therapy that is immunosuppressive, or have an allergy to Botulinum Toxin-A should not receive injections.

What is the Difference between Neuromodulators and Dermal fillers?

Neuromodulators relax muscles which when contracted can cause wrinkling, whereas fillers restore (or augment) volume. Neuromodulators take at least 5-7 days to cause effect on the muscles.

This will be reviewed with your practitioner during the consultation if you are unsure. - Avoid extreme heat and strenuous exercise on the day of your treatment. - Schedule the treatment at least two-three weeks prior to an important event to allow time for bruising or redness to resolve. - Eat or drink prior to treatment to limit the facial movements post-treatment.

Can Neuromodulators and Dermal Fillers be used in combination during the same Treatment?

Neuromodulators and Dermal Fillers are very often used in combination with each other and during the same treatment, depending on the desired outcome.

What are "Neuromodulators?"

“Neuromodulator” is a generic term for botulinum toxins. For cosmetic purposes they are injected into facial muscles to limit the contractions which can cause lines and wrinkles. They are often referred to generically "botox" as the brand Botox® was the first to market, however there are several Health Canada authorized brands, all with their own unique characteristics.

FILLERS

Is the procedure for Dermal Fillers painful?

The discomfort is reported as minimal. It also depends upon the area being treated. The good news is that dermal fillers are usually prepared with lidocaine (a numbing agent). A topical numbing agent and/or ice, can be applied to the treatment area prior to your procedure to help reduce discomfort.

Can Neuromodulators and Dermal Fillers be used in combination at the same Treatment?

Neuromodulators and Dermal Fillers are very often used in combination with each other and during the same treatment, depending on the desired outcome.

Post-treatment Care

Temporary bruising, swelling and tenderness may occur over the treatment areas. It may feel normal to feel firmness in your treated areas for the first few days after treatment and this will soften and settle. Apply cool compress to area (avoiding pressure). To ensure the best possible outcome, please try to AVOID: - exaggerated facial expressions for 2-4 hours after the injections - rubbing or massaging treated areas - strenuous exercise for remainder of day - extended periods of intense sunshine or extreme heat (tanning bed, hot tub) for two days after the injections - applying makeup and normal skincare products until the day after the injection - aspirin, ibuprofen and alcohol for 12 hours to avoid increasing bruising - wait a minimum of 6 weeks before receiving laser treatments and 1 week for skincare treatments

What is the difference between Neuromodulators and Dermal fillers?

Neuromodulators relax muscles which when contracted can cause wrinkling, whereas dermal fillers restore (or augment) volume. In the skin, most dermal fillers work by attracting water, which allows the skin to become more hydrated. As we age, fat, muscles, bone, and skin in our face begins to thin and can lead a sunken or sagging appearance of the face, fine lines, wrinkles, and thin lips. Injectable fillers can be used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and to create structure and volume to the face and lips. The effects of dermal fillers are seen immediately.

Who should NOT receive Fillers?

Women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, women who are breastfeeding, individuals with medical conditions that lower the body's immune response, or individuals undergoing therapy that is immunosuppressive, active infection (ie. herpes simplex or acne flare) near the site of injection, or a known allergy/hypersensitivity to the material or to the lidocaine mixed in the syringe of the filler.

Injections vs. liposuction?

Fat dissolving injections are a non-surgical treatment to dissolve small fat pockets without surgery. As it is a non-surgical treatment, there is limited down time (some people return to work the same day), allowing you to return to your regular life in no time at all. Liposuction is an invasive surgical procedure that carries additional risks since you are going under anesthesia. Recovery time tends to be longer and can leave a small scar in the area. You will want to consult with a licensed and regulated Plastic Surgeon if liposuction is something you would like to consider. We are happy to refer you to one should this be the optimal way forward.

What is the chemical make up of fat dissolving injections?

In the human body, deoxycholic acid is used in the emulsification of fats for absorption in the intestine. During treatment, a synthetic form is injected to dissolve fat in the areas injected, without the need for the surgical intervention of liposuction.

What's recovery like after fat dissolving injections?

The recovery from these injections is relatively painless. Patients usually experience tenderness and/or numbness to the area after the treatment. It does cause some swelling that we tell our clients to plan for. This swelling is part of the process and is helpful as it can sometimes lead to some skin tightening along with fat reduction. Elevate Medical Aesthetics suggests you plan to set aside 3 days for swelling. After that the swelling continues to be minimal over the next several weeks and is likely only noticeable to you and your immediate family.

Is treatment painful?

Most of our clients would describe treatments as an easy procedure with little pain or discomfort. Immediately after the injections some patients describe a warm and uncomfortable feeling that subsides within minutes. Some patients describe the first 15 minutes of the treatment as a little uncomfortable but in general it is very well tolerated. At Elevate Medical Aesthetics we go above and beyond to minimize your discomfort. Prior to treatment we will offer you a numbing cream. In addition, we can add a numbing agent into the medication (lidocaine), and provide you with a soft ice pack at the end. We're by your side at all times, dedicated to ensuring a pleasant experience!

NOTE:  Health Canada restricts the advertising of medications (e.g. Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Nuceiva, Restylane, Juvederm, Teoxane, Stylage, Belotero, Belkyra, PRP, etc.) by linking them to therapeutic outcomes.   We are more than happy to discuss them by contacting us, or scheduling a consultation with our NPs or MD.
